Eliminate painful headaches and get relief from TMJ with treatments options from Prof.Dr. Siddik Malkoc.
You may have heard the term TMJ before, but not really know what it stood for. TMJ, or Temporomandibular Joint Disorder, means that the hinge that connects the upper and lower jaws doesn’t work properly. The parts of the bones that work with the joint are covered with cartilage and separated by shock-absorbing disks which help to keep the jaw working smoothly. If the disk erodes or is moved out of alignment then TMJ disorder can occur.
TMJ can be caused from excessive tooth grinding, jaw misalignment, arthritis, or damage caused by a blow or other impact. Most people with TMJ may feel like their jaw is popping or clicking. The misalignment can cause a number of different symptoms, including:
- Headaches often similar to migraines
- Earaches
- Pain and pressure behind the eyes
- Locked jaws
- Sore facial and jaw muscles
- Painful chewing
- Toothaches
- Dizziness
